Methodology v1

What these numbers do—and do not—mean

Active figures use the seller's book price for listings live at the snapshot time. Sold figures use the book price on UBT sales since 6 August 2025. Delivery and buyer-service charges are excluded from both.

We use the median rather than the mean so one unusually high or low listing has less effect. Free, zero-price and invalid rows are excluded. Subjects are normalised from book metadata and each listing contributes to one primary subject group.

This is a UniBookTrade marketplace sample—not a claim about all UK textbook transactions. Inventory mix, subject coverage and sample size change over time. Cite the snapshot date and sample size whenever reusing the data.

Price up your own books, not the average

The index describes the marketplace. The value checker uses the exact ISBN and current matching data for your copy.
