About this book
Physical reality is too large and complex to be grasped in its totality by any one way of looing at things. Similarly, God's truth is too great to be understood by looking at it from a single perspective. We must therefore, Dr. Poythress argues, recognize the legitimacy of multiple perspectives: We use what we have gained from one perspective to reinforce, correct, or improve what we understood through another. He calls this procedure "symphonic theology" because it is analgogous to a blending of various musical instruments to express the variation of a symphonic theme. The author builds his case for symphonic theology and then presents 12 maxims of symphonic theology.
