What to Do With Old ACCA Study Texts (2026-27 Guide)

Quick answer: check the edition first. Sell current editions (2026-27 texts and kits, FA2025 tax books, and BPP's September 2025 printings for BT, MA, FA and LW) soon, because the current ACCA format ends after June 2027. Recycle expired editions, especially out-of-date TX and ATX books.

That pile of ACCA books is worth money, for now

Every ACCA candidate has the pile: study texts and exam kits from papers you've passed, doing nothing on a shelf. At BPP's prices, a Course Book is £39–£46 and an Exam Practice Kit £23–£28, so each paper cost you £62–£74 new. Kaplan's Study Texts are priced similarly at around £44–£45 for Applied Skills. Across 13 exams, that's roughly £900 of books.

ACCA materials are printed for specific exam sittings. Once an edition's window closes, its resale value collapses. A current edition in good condition sells. A superseded one often isn't worth the postage. So what to do with old ACCA books depends almost entirely on which edition you have.

Check your edition's validity window

The tax window comes from ACCA's FA2025 guidance. Some BPP covers say "valid June 2026 to June 2027", which is the same thing.

A 2025-26 edition of a paper that didn't change this cycle (FR, AA, SBL, AFM, AAA, LW, with only reworded outcomes for SBR) still has buyers, at a lower price. The June 2027 deadline

ACCA is introducing a new qualification. Its Foundations and Knowledge exams start on demand from July 2027, and its Expertise and Strategic Professional exams from September 2027. Students who start at Knowledge will sit 11 exams instead of 13. June 2027 is the final sitting of the current Applied Skills and Strategic Professional exams.

That puts a deadline on your shelf. A current SBR text is a sought-after item today. After June 2027, buyers will need the new qualification's materials. If you've been meaning to sell, this cycle is the one to do it in.

Your options, ranked

1. Sell to the next cohort. With sessions in March, June, September and December, someone is always starting the paper you just finished. Current texts and kits sell fastest and for the best prices. Listing is free with no seller fees, and buyers get tracked delivery and buyer protection. Used copies on UBT typically sell for 40–60% below RRP.
2. Pass them to a colleague. Plenty of ACCA students work for the same employer or training scheme. Check the edition is valid for their sitting first, especially for TX and ATX.
3. Recycle superseded editions. Expired tax editions and pre-restructure APM texts aren't worth listing. Charity shops often can't sell dated exam materials, so ask before you donate.

A note on exam kits

Question banks are updated every year even when the syllabus isn't, so the kit matters more than the text for being current. If you're selling a current kit, put the edition in the title: it's the item buyers most need to be up to date. If it's unused or lightly used, say so.

Old ACCA books lose value on a known schedule. Current editions are worth real money across several papers, and the June 2027 format change means today's books have one selling cycle left. Check your editions against the validity tables, list the current ones, and let the next cohort save some money while you get some of yours back.
