AAT is the UK's biggest accounting-technician qualification, from Level 2 Certificate to Level 4 Diploma. Kaplan and BPP both publish texts at £28 or less new - and because most units stay stable across the Q2022 syllabus, used copies keep their value year after year.

AAT book questions, answered
Can I sell my AAT books after finishing a unit?
Yes. AAT assessments run on demand all year, so demand for each unit's books is constant. Non-tax units stay substantively valid across the whole Q2022 syllabus period, which makes AAT books unusually durable second-hand stock. Listing on UniBookTrade is free.
Do I need this year's AAT edition?
Usually not. Kaplan and BPP reprint each academic year with a new ISBN, but for non-tax units the content barely changes within the Q2022 syllabus - an edition from a year or two back covers the same assessments. The exception is the tax units (TPFB, PNTA, BNTA), which follow the Finance Act and are valid for one calendar year of assessments only.
What's changing with AAT Level 4?
A new Level 4 syllabus (the Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians) launches in September 2026, replacing the Q2022 Level 4. Q2022 Level 4 assessments run until July 2028, so current Q2022 books stay usable for existing students until then - but check which syllabus you're enrolled on before buying.
Kaplan or BPP for AAT?
Both are widely used and cover the same assessments; it's a matter of style. Kaplan's Study Text plus Exam Kit runs £51 new per unit, BPP's Course Book bundle about £61. Buying either used typically halves that - and for non-tax units an older edition works fine.
