Can I use an older UKMLA book?
The medical canon moves slowly - the Oxford Handbooks and the big clinical texts go three to seven years between editions, and buying an older edition is an institutionalised part of medical school culture (many MedSocs actively recommend it). The UKMLA didn't invalidate any of it: the content map was built from existing GMC outcomes. The one caveat is guidelines and drug doses, which do change - use a current formulary and guidance for prescribing, and treat the books as the core-science and wards layer they are.
Always double-check the edition against your exam sitting before buying. When in doubt, GMC's official syllabus documents are free and definitive.
